What is “The Uncommon Collective”?

How it all began…

God put a dream in my heart many, many years ago, to serve in ministry with my daughter Savannah.

Last year we were asked to speak at a one day mother/daughter retreat.  We each shared personally and practically about our love for Jesus, His Word, and the impact He has made in our lives.  I thought my heart would burst from the joy I felt that day!

A few months later, at a different women’s ministry event, I was asked to be on a panel discussion with Savannah, my biological daughter and Brooklynn, who I call my ‘bonus’ daughter.  I didn’t give birth to her, but she has been grafted into our family and I love her as my own!  (She is also Savannah’s best friend.)   I spoke about the responsibility of motherhood and passing on my faith to the next generation, and the role of being a spiritual mother to Brooklynn.  The girls also shared from their perspective, which was powerful!

Since then, I’ve had a ‘stirring in my soul’ to do something more with both of them!

For the past year I’ve been praying about an opportunity to collaborate.  I recognize how creative, talented and anointed these ‘next generation’ girls are, and I desire to help develop them, giving them opportunity to put their gifting into practice!  I believe this is the season to step out in faith and do it!

Our goal is to create an atmosphere where women of all ages can come together and be encouraged by biblical, practical and personal story telling that will point them to Jesus.

It’s also an opportunity to experience community as we connect with other women, talking, worshipping and sharing a meal together.

My prayer is that every woman who attends would be inspired and challenged in their faith as they hear biblical teaching from two different speakers in two different generations.  And that they would feel loved by the beauty and detail of this very intentional gathering.

Uncommon Collective is the name of the Ministry and Fruitful is the theme of our summer gathering…it’s also the fruition of a dream come true!

Much love,

Melanie

How did we get our name?

The Bible tells us, that as believers we are called to be ‘set apart, not of this world, different…’(Romans 12:2, 2 Tim 2:21, John 17:15-18)

The definition of Uncommon means- unusual, different, not ordinary, special!

Collective- company, gathering, combined; a group of individuals taken together.
